Intel’s new low-power Atom processor comes to the DLI 8300 Rugged Tablet
August 13, 2008 - Intel's newest, smallest and lowest power processor, the Intel® Atom™ processor brings increased processing muscle and performance to the DLI 8300 Rugged tablet.
The new Atom™ processor also delivers extended battery life - adding an additional hour in the case of the DLI 8300 - thanks to the processor's incredibly low idle and average power which allows Atom™powered devices to remain "on" while conserving energy.
The DLI 8300 Rugged Tablets comes configured with either a 1.1 GHz or 1.6 GHz single-core Atom™ processor. Atom™-equipped DLI 8300 tablets are expected to begin shipipng by October of tihs year.
Smart Card Reader Announced - July 21, 2008 - The DLI 8300 Rugged Tablet adds a PCMCIA Smart Card reader to an already vast array of features and functionality. The Smart Card reader, carefully integrated into the back shell of the 8300, brings expanded validation and security features to the unit. Along with the 8300's already-integrated biometric fingerprint scanner, the Smart Card reader will give users the ability to more effectively monitor access control of vehicles, facilities, and the 8300 Rugged Tablet itself.
Data Ltd Unveils Industry-first 3-in-1 Payment Module - April 6, 2008 - The retail-ready DLI 8300 Rugged Tablet becomes a mobile point-of-sale device with the addition of an integrated 3-in-1 Payment Module. This OPOS-compliant retail enhancement to the DLI 8300 includes a magstripe reader, 2D barcode scanner/imager, and contactless payment RFiD reader.
